Green School Update 2009
In June St.Anne’s was awarded the 3rd Green Flag ,the theme of which is Water Conservation.Three representatives from the Green Committee and Ms. Lynch went in to the An Taisce offices near Christchurch to attend the award ceremony.
We are very proud of all the hard work done by the pupils, parents , teachers and friends of St. Anne’s who helped to make this achievement possible.
We are now into a new school year and some of our old committee have moved on to 2nd level. We change our Green Committee each year and had our inaugural meeting on September 29th. A big welcome to all our newcomers.!
As Tree Week was coming up we decided to hold a Tree Art Competition. There were lots of fantastic entries and Ms. Elmes and Ms. Ní Mhurchú’s classes should be especially proud.
The winners were Victoria, for her beautifully artistic leaf arrangement, and Robert ,for his Money Tree, which could come in handy in these recessionary times.
On Wednesday 18th November, Ally Menary from An Taisce came to meet with the Green Committee to chat about how we might proceed with our Travel Programme. He was very impressed with the number of children walking or cycling to school and with the success of the Walking Bus. Well done to all involved!
